ABOUT LAMIYA
Lamiya Hoque is a dynamic and inspiring leader, who made history in 2016 as the first-ever Miss Asia Pacific Bangladesh, an achievement that showcased her beauty, resilience, and dedication. Prior to that, she was the first runner-up in the inaugural Miss Bangladesh Teen USA pageant. Over the years, Lamiya has continued to break barriers and build her community.
In 2024, she made history once again as the first female Muslim to be elected to the Buena Park City Council, reflecting her deep commitment to public service and leadership. A lifelong resident of Buena Park, Lamiya has actively served her community in various roles, including as a School Board Member for the Centralia Elementary School District and a member of several city commissions. She holds degrees in Environmental Policy and Public Administration, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education from Chapman University
Lamiya's career in education, combined with her civic involvement, reflects her passion for creating positive change in her city. Her advocacy for sustainability, local businesses, and education aligns with her broader vision to enhance quality of life and infrastructure in Buena Park.
